Help Bring Easter Joy to Children in Need

As Easter quickly approaches, help us make this time of joy extra special for children in our neighborhood! CHUMC is working with Capitol Hill Group Ministry to sponsor Easter Baskets that are sure to bring a smile to a child's face. Our goal is to raise donations enough to sponsor at least 10 baskets at $25 a piece. If you would like to sponsor a basket for $25 (or contribute any amount) just write "Easter Baskets" on your check or offering envelope. Place your donation in the offering plate, or drop it by the CHUMC office during the week. For additional information, please contact Rich Bensman at rb@labindc.com or Jenna Welch at JennaAWelch@yahoo.com.

Care for Our Covenant

There will be a Covenant Care Ministry Team meeting in the Chapel today, Sunday, March 9th, immediately following worship. All are welcome and encouraged to join us as we look for ways to expand the vital, spirit-filled ministry of caring for each other, especially in times of greatest need.

Reconciling Potluck Next Sunday

Bring a dish to pass, or just yourself to the next Reconciling Potluck Sunday, March 16th at 6pm. We have plans to discuss General Conference 2008 and the issues that relate to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality and the Methodist Church. We will have a representative from BWARM (the Baltimore/ Washington Area Reconciling Methodists), as well as a woman from Methodists for Social Action. We'll also learn how WE can make a difference in our church. Please do join us! Email or call Laura Rossbert with any questions: laura.a.robertson@gmail.com or 202-680-2064

Finding God in the Music of U2

will be offered Mondays 7pm–9pm (May 5 - June 23). Contact: Kirsten Gullickson (202) 262 – 8419 or kgullickson@prodigy.net The footprints of the Holy Spirit can be found in many places in contemporary popular media, including in the music of one of the world's greatest rock bands -- U2. This eight-week session will focus on finding God in their music. Whether you are a fan of U2 or not, join us as we look at how U2 lyrics are 'nicked from the Bible'. This is not a study about the members of U2; rather, it is an exploration of the major voices of Scripture that can be found in their music. A fair amount of visual and auditory media will be used.

… and don't forget our ongoing offerings!

Small Groups

As you continue along your Discipleship Journey, consider taking a few CHUMC folks along for the ride! Through CHUMC's Small Groups ministry, groups of about 6-8 people will covenant to meet together about once a week for fellowship and spiritual growth in a relaxed setting. By joining, you will have an opportunity to form deeper bonds with other folks here at CHUMC, explore your own faith, and learn from and celebrate the different steps others are taking along the way. Please contact Kira Maas (kira.ellen.maas@gmail.com, 202-487-0298) for more information.
