Prayers of the People - from a CHUM Member on September 9th:

Let us pray for the church and the world saying Lord in your love, hear our prayer.

We pray for your church and for all those who serve it.  As we return home from our travels to this safe sanctuary, let us be strengthened to serve so that we may live out your mission in this community and in the world.

Lord in your love, hear our prayer.

We pray for those who govern every land, and for the people committed to their charge.  Help them turn their hearts to you so that their decisions may benefit your kingdom and your people.  Grant them guidance and courage in their decisions. 

Lord in your love, hear our prayer.

Tender and Compassionate God, we pray for the sick and grieving, grant them the healing, comfort and care that they need.  We especially pray for those whose names we lift up to you now, either silently or aloud….

Lord in your love, hear our prayer.

We pray for those whose homes and communities have been destroyed by natural disasters.  Give them strength as they rebuild lives.  We also pray for those who are homeless and are still searching for their safe sanctuary.  

Lord in your love, hear our prayer.

As we approach the anniversary of September 11th, we pray for the families who still grieve, the first responders and others that still feel the deep impact of that day.

Lord in your love, hear our prayer.

Loving God, we pray for those who live in fear, whose communities and lives are in a constant state of upheaval due to war or poverty.  We pray for those in Afghanistan, Iraq, the Sudan and all the people in the world who need your comfort and peace. 

Lord in your love, hear our prayer. 

Lord, grant us peace and comfort as we live out our call.  Help us remember that you offer your strength and grace to us without price.  Thank you for the peace and comfort that we can find in you and for the blessing of those who are with us on our journey.
