Worship Life at CHUM

Sunday Worship, 11:00 am -12:15 pm

Nursery at Upper Level 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Thursday Holy Communion, 7:30-8:00 am

(in Chapel, enter by back 5th street door)

Our worship is grounded in the tradition of the Church and enlivened by the Holy Spirit! "Traditional but not stuffy" is our worship style!

Members of the congregation participate in worship through planning liturgies, reading, writing and leading prayers, creating art installations for the sanctuary, reading Holy Scripture, designing flower arrangements and seasonal decor, ushering, greeting, creating bulletin art, preaching, sharing testimonies, singing in the choir, sharing the Children's Message, serving Holy Communion, and more.

Seasonal worship planning teams work together to study the lectionary passages for the season and to creatively weave the liturgies together in a cohesive whole. Recent worship themes include "Objects in Mirror are Closer Than They Appear" (Lent/Easter 2007) and "Traveling with the Spirit: It's a Trip!" (Summer 2007).

The sacrament of Holy Communion is shared the first Sunday of each month, every Thursday morning in the Chapel, each Sunday during the season of Lent, Maundy Thursday, and for other special celebrations throughout the year.

The sacrament of Holy Baptism is celebrated several times a year, including Easter Sunday, as we welcome new disciples into the Body of Christ. The Baptismal Font is located at the entrance to the sanctuary, in front of the glorious stained-glass window, as a reminder that we enter the Body of Christ through our Baptism. Both infants and adults are presented to receive the gracious waters of Baptism.

Here at CHUM, we celebrate the liturgical seasons of the Church year, include all ages in our worship, and enjoy powerful music through congregational singing and the ministry of our choir and Music Director. We gather in worship expecting something to happen!

YOU are invited to join us in worship some day soon! Come and be met by a God who knows you by name and wants to have a relationship with you!

After worship...

Following the worship service, light refreshments and shared hello’s are enjoyed by anyone who can stay for 15 minutes in the Parlor, across from the sanctuary.
