Christmas Eve Candlelight Worship

  • Capitol Hill United Methodist Church 421 Seward Square SE Washington United States (map)

We invite you to join us a sacred, timeless tradition: our Christmas Eve Candlelight Worship.

Together, we will sing the classic carols of the faith, listen to the Christmas story told through Scripture, and share a quiet moment of reflection. The evening culminates in lowering the sanctuary lights and passing the flame from candle to candle until the entire room is glowing with light as we sing "Silent Night."

Details at a Glance

  • When: Christmas Eve (December 24th) at 7pm

  • Where: The CHUMC Sanctuary

  • Who: The entire CHUMC congregation, families, neighbors, and visitors

  • Vibe: Sacred, traditional, contemplative, and warm.

A Note for Faith Finders Families

While our 4pm Christmas Eve worship is for interactive kid-energy, having children participate in passing the candlelight is a powerful, memorable experience for kids as they grow into the wider rhythms of our worshiping community.

(Note: There is no separate childcare or Children's Church for this evening service, as we want all generations to experience the candlelight together.)
