A Morning of Outdoor Service & Discovery!
Join us for a special Saturday morning at the beautiful Franciscan Monastery in DC. This is a fantastic opportunity for our kids to get their hands dirty, enjoy the outdoors, and learn about caring for God’s creation.
We will be helping the Franciscan Monastery Garden Guild prepare for the spring season by planting seeds in the greenhouse (which will grow into veggies sold to support the farm!) and pulling weeds from the garden beds. The kids always have a blast doing this—especially when they get to hunt for leftover carrots from previous harvests!
Note: This is a family-style meetup; parents and caregivers will stay with and supervise their own kids for the duration of the event.
The Details at a Glance
When: Saturday, March 6 from 10am – 12pm
Where: Franciscan Monastery, 1400 Quincy St NE, Washington, DC 20017 (We are meeting directly on-site! Free parking is available in their lot directly across the street of the monastery.)
Who: This event is geared toward our Pre-K through 5th graders, though older siblings are totally welcome to come help out!
What to Bring & Wear
👕 Dress for dirt: Wear clothes and shoes that can (and definitely will) get muddy!
🧤 Gear: Please bring your own water bottles and gardening gloves if you have them. Don't worry about bringing shovels or trowels—the farm has plenty of kid-sized tools for us to use.
🚜 Accessibility Note: Because we will be walking through farm terrain and garden beds, please note that this space is not super stroller-friendly.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Monastery Farm Coordinator to help organize this outing for our families! This role is perfect for someone enjoys getting their hands dirty and wants to connect our Faith Finder families with nature and local food efforts. As coordinator, you will help coordinate with our partners and encourage families to participate.
